SECTION 05

COMPENSATION RULES

expand_more

We will compensate you with in game currency and/or replacement game items for items lost due to server or game issues. Although we don't allow theft on our PvE servers we operate open public servers and as such from time to time we will have players join who don't follow our server rules. You are expected to take reasonable precautions to keep your vehicles/gear/loot secure, we have provided code locks for your bases, lockers and tents and have the Much Car Key mod on so that you can lock and secure your vehicles.

We may ask for proof like a screenshot or video clip that supports your claim and would highly recommend you use a service like GeForce Experience's ShadowPlay, OBS or Bandicam that can keep a rolling recording of your last 5 minutes of gameplay.

BASES

Players are expected to take all reasonable precautions to secure their items, raiding is disabled on our PvE servers so bases can't be raided or broken into.

We will replace your items if:
  • A player glitches into your base by exploiting game mechanics or by using third party code (cheats) to gain access.
  • A base is damaged through no fault of your own and the damage compromises the security measures you had in place.
  • A server or game issue results in loses.
We will NOT replace your items if:
  • A base is left unsecured without code locks or walls placed to prevent access.
  • A base uses floor kits as roofs and the floor has been dismantled to gain entry.
  • A base or tent is accidentally left open or unlocked.
  • Items are taken by a team mate or someone who you have allowed access to your base.
  • Items left outside of your base that are readily accessible by any other player.
  • Items left inside of tents that are not stored in the tents inventory, e.g. - barrels, workbenches or storage crates must not be left on the floor inside a tent as they are accessible from outside of the tent, lockers may be placed in tents but must have a code lock fitted to the locker to secure them.

VEHICLES

We will not replace any inventory contents of lost/stolen vehicles other than barrels, chests, crates and attached storage items which we can verify, unless proof such as screenshots or video clips showing the claimed items in the vehicle inventory is presented, any provided proof must have been recorded on the day of the claim and must show the items in the vehicles inventory.

We will replace your vehicle if:
  • A vehicle is destroyed by going into water
  • A vehicle is damaged and de-spawns
  • A vehicle moves outside of the map boundary and de-spawns
  • A vehicle glitches through the map
  • A vehicle is stolen - In this case we will try and recover the vehicle if possible or replace the vehicle if it has been sold. (If a vehicle is stolen due to it being left unlocked and unattended, except in cases where the player has died or a server crash/restart, we reserve the right to refuse compensation).
We will NOT replace your vehicle if
  • You have not assigned a key to your vehicle.
  • A vehicle is deemed to have been deliberately damaged by gunfire or drowning.
  • A vehicle is stolen as a result of being left unattended and unlocked where the player had opportunity to lock and secure the vehicle.
  • A vehicle is taken by a team mate and ownership is disputed.
  • A player continues to perform actions that result in the loss of a vehicle after being advised by staff to cease such actions.
  • A vehicle has been impounded and subsequently deleted for repeated "left out on the map" violations.

PLAYER ITEMS

We will replace your items if:
  • A loss results from a game or server issue such as a crash or rollback.
  • A player steals from you by tieing you up, knocking you unconscious or killing you to access your inventory.
  • A player steals from your body bag whilst you are attempting to get back to it.
  • A body bag is not created upon your death or is created out of bounds and de-spawns.
We will NOT replace items if:
  • A loss is a result of negligence.
  • Reasonable care has not been taken to safeguard your items.
  • Items are left unattended on the floor and you have moved away from them.
  • Loses are a result of actions taken within 2 minutes prior to a restart, you should be logging off to create a save.

OTHER

  • Losses caused by third parties removing or updating their mods or as a result of Bohemia updateing the core game.
  • In game losses as a result of bugs with a particular mod.
  • We accept no liability for loses caused as a result of mod authors removing, changing or updating their mods in the Steam workshop, in these instances we will do whatever we can to mitigate any issues caused but cannot gaurentee this as these update are usually un-announced and entirely out of our control. When Bohemia update the core game and Chernarus/Livonia mission files, we will announce the update accordingly, in the cases of hotfixes these are generally not announced by Bohemia and again we take no liability for losses caused in the event of this happening.
  • All offers of compensation are made in good faith and server staff may deny compensation on a case by case basis should they believe that the loss is partly or in full the responsibility of the player or been caused as a result of attempting to exploit the server or it's mods. Compensation is strictly limited to in game items and in game currency of the server you are playing on. All decisions about compensation made by staff are final, you will be told why if a claim is denied.
SECTION 06

LOOT CYCLING RULES

expand_more

Loot cycling is defined as the act of collecting loot with the intention of disposing of it for the purpose of getting the loot table to generate more/better loot than what has been collected.

In extreme cases a player will collect every item of loot from a location and then dump it, going back to the same location to collect new valuable loot that has spawned.

It is all about your intentions when looting. If you intend to use or sell the loot to a trader, then this is acceptable; you may later decide to throw away a few low value items to make space or other things, and this is fine, normal play.

If you are loot cycling then you KNOW you are doing it, it doesn't happen by accident.

HOW DO WE DETECT LOOT CYCLING?

  • Admins are active at watching players, especially in hotspot areas like military and oil rigs; we also have a log system in place that alerts us when a player is detected offloading a quantity of loot other than by selling at the traders.
  • Everything you do in DayZ is logged and very easy to check, you can't just say "It wasn't me" and hope to get away with it. Nobody playing fairly goes through an area like a human vacuum cleaner, collecting every single item—beanie hats and 30 pistol flashlights etc.—puts them in a bag and goes and dumps it if they are not loot cycling.

CONSEQUENCES

  • If you are found to be loot cycling then you will get a 7 day ban for the first offense; a second offense will result in a permanent ban from all Archon servers and you will be added to the community shared ban lists.
  • Ignorance of the rules is not a defense; saying "I didn't know it was not allowed" will not be accepted as a reasonable excuse.
  • It is common on all DayZ servers for the "no loot cycling" rule to be in place; this is not unique to Archon.
  • The decisions made by senior staff are final and not negotiable.

WHY WE DON'T ALLOW LOOT CYCLING

  • Firstly, loot cycling forces the loot engine to go into overdrive in a way that it is not intended; this has a significant effect on server performance.
  • Secondly, it's cheating—gaining an advantage from exploiting a game mechanic for your own personal gain.
  • Thirdly, it limits the ability for other players to loot an area if a group is camping it and loot cycling.
  • Archon has a fantastic, friendly community of players that mostly abide by the few rules we have; there is no room on our servers for players who wish to abuse that.
